Songkran marks the traditional New Year in Thailand and is widely celebrated in countries like Myanmar (Thingyan), Laos (Pi Mai), and Cambodia (Chaul Chnam Thmey). Rooted in Buddhist and Hindu traditions, Songkran is a time for renewal, cleansing, gratitude, and joy. Water plays a central role, symbolizing the washing away of the old year’s misfortunes and welcoming blessings for the year ahead.
